Steve Torrance

For Steve, being a funeral director means helping families celebrate a life, not just mourn a death.

Having the opportunity for a high school co-op placement in a funeral home, Steve’s interest in helping people through one of the most difficult times in their lives was sparked. Upon completing high school, Steve attended the Funeral Service Education program at Humber College in Toronto, ON and graduated as a Licensed Funeral Director in 1997; following which, he had the opportunity to work in funeral homes in the Toronto, Milton and Cambridge areas.

Born and raised in the Fergus area, Steve and his family would cottage in Parry Sound. The small town atmosphere, being much the same as his hometown, is one of the things that drew Steve and his family back to Parry Sound. Steve established Torrance Funeral Home & Chapel Limited in 2000, and opened the doors for business in April of 2001.

Since then, Steve has become an active member of the community. Having served on the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation Board, Parry Sound Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club, HANDS: thefamilyhelpnetwork.ca Board member, and a retired member of the local OPP auxiliary. When not at the funeral home, Steve enjoys spending time with his son Scott and his daughter Nicole enjoying all that beautiful Parry Sound and Georgian Bay have to offer.

Nicole Kuta

Nicole joined Torrance Funeral Home and Chapel Limited in 2013. She is from an office management and dental assisting background. With her kind heart, upbeat and positive personality, she is able to add something very special to the Funeral home. She absolutely loves her profession and is continually striving to improve herself and her knowledge of the funeral service industry. She has attained her Funeral Preplanning licence as well as her Transfer Service Sales Representative licence.  She feels it is an honour and a privilege to serve to her community. Since moving to Parry Sound, Nicole has been involved with volunteering her time with educational sessions on Advanced care planning and preplanning with Hospice West Parry Sound. Nicole was born in Hamilton but moved with her daughter Aniela to Parry Sound to enjoy the beautiful area. Nicole and Steve are amazing partners, professionally and personally. She enjoys yoga, ATV trail riding and boating on Georgian Bay but spending time with Steve and their blended family is what is truly special to her.
